SOLD Purple Bouclé Chairs
Italy 1970s
This pair of Italian black armchairs with purple bouclé from the 1970s is made of black varnished wood and upholstered in purple bouclé fabric. The particularity of the armchairs are the back cushions that wrap around the entire seat. The armchairs have a very clean and defined geometric line giving them an almost futuristic look- a perfect fit to give a room some groovy club vibes. In addition, their vibrant purple colour serve es a real eye-catcher!
French for ‘curl’ or ‘loop’, Bouclé is both yarn and an upholstery fabric made from it. The textile is characterised by its nubby, almost fleecy appearance, from the little loops in the yarn. Bouclé fabrics are commonly made from wool fibres, however, you can also find the textile in linen, cotton and even silk.
According to Architectural Digest, the bouclé trend perhaps looks most effective when upholstered on curved furniture, like this pair of purple lounge chairs with their curved armrests and overall rather well round shape.
