Mid-Century Modern Travertine Animal Sculptures
Italy 1970s
This lovely set of four travertine animal sculptures in brutalist style impresses with its minimalist form. Handmade from travertine stone in the 70s this set will delight all art Mid-Century Modern lovers and collectors who prefer the brutalism movement. Minimalist in style with soft curves and lines, they may be displayed as works of art or as contemporary witnesses of this special era. All pieces are weighty and beautifully tactile with characterful marbling and natural cracking.
Two of them – the elephant and the rhino – are branded. The elephant was made by the Italian factory Cerri Nestore & C. The Rhino was created by the Italian factory Frattelli Mannelli from Florence which is very well known for travertine. These two animals are a little darker and heavier than the dromedar and the turtle. All in all the perfect eyecatcher for every Mid Century Modern enthusiast!
