SOLD Dining Chairs by Eugenio Gerli (Set of 4)

for Tecno, Italy 1950s

Rare set of 4 black dining chairs by Eugenio Gerli designed for the Italian manufacturer Tecno in the late 50s which reflect the skills of Italian craftsmanship. These chairs embody form and function in a unique way. Designed with 3 legs they offer perfect design as well as absolute seating comfort. The seating surface of the chairs is narrow running forward and ends rounded at the 3rd leg. At the bottom of the back there is a semi-circular that balances the minimalist shape.
All in all a symbol of of historical Italian Mid-Century Modern Design.

Eugenio Gerli (15 July 1923 – 2 October 2013) was the inventor with Osvaldo Borsani of the historical working system called Graphis (1968). On the wall of his grandfather‘s house, where he was born, there was a tablet with the engraving „living to build“, And that is how it has been.
In an intense working life, spanning more than six decades, Eugenio Gerli explored many different areas of his profession. He built villas, office blocks, factories, banks and stores, and alsor restored historic buildings. He often completed his works with custom-made interiors and furniture.
