SOLD Green Velvet Lounge Chair “Karate” by Michel Cadestin
for Airborne, France 1970s
This iconic lounge chair by Michel Cadestin was produced by French furniture manufacturer Airborne in the 70s and hardly to be found nowadays. It is made of green velvet with a swiveling base. This “Karate” chair still has the original velvet upholstery in the typical 70s green in very good vintage condition. Due to its size of its width and depth, its gentle curves and cuddly arm pads, it is very comfortable and absolutely an eyecatcher for every Mid Century collector`s home. A perfect place to relax!
Michel Cadestin was born in 1942 in France. In the 1970s, Michel Cadestin became a fan of modular, inflatable and demountable furniture. He has always tried to create design that is functional, fun and progressive.
In 1976 he won the consultation organised for the development of the Centre Georges Pompidou with the series of Treillis et +4 chairs. In 1983 Michel Cadestin founded his own agency “Création Recherche” which he focused on interior architecture, production design for housing and the community. Also in 1983, he was elected creator of the year, he is the first designer to receive this distinction.
