Mid-Century Modern Black Daybed Cleopatra by Dick Cordemeijer

for Auping, Netherlands 1960s

A very elegant daybed designed by Dick Cordemeijer and produced by Auping in the Netherlands in the 60s. This daybed – named Cleopatra – has a black metal frame and feet. On the top and on the end there are two beautiful frames from teak. The mattress has been reupholstered with a black leatherette. Further 3 square cushions, also with a new upholstery, belong to this set.

This bed was launched in 1954 and it was immediately a great success. This popular bed was simple modernistic, functional and built to resist. Even after 50 years these beds are sturdy and don‘t screech. The Cleopatra daybed is the perfect piece for every stylish home.
